  • Charlotte Goodwin Blackhurst of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on January 31, 2013, at Jackson General Hospital, Ripley, WV, from heart and kidney disease.
    She was born in Pedro, Ohio, on June 3, 1934, daughter of Everette Harold Goodwin and Carrie DeLong Goodwin.
    She grew up in Belle and Rand, WV, graduating from Dupont High in 1952. She worked four years for C & P Telephone Company.
    She married Robert L. Blackhurst in 1954 and moved to Ravenswood in 1962 to manage Colonial Manor Apartments.
    She then worked as a bookkeeper for over 30 years in a business she and her husband owned and operated.
    She is survived by husband, Robert Blackhurst, Sr.; son, Robert L. Blackhurst, Jr. and wife Kim; daughter, Carolyn Torris and husband Randy, all of Ravenswood; grandsons, Joe Blackhurst (Carey), Craig Blackhurst (Kyla), David Blackhurst, Steven Blackhurst (Lora), and Jared Torris; granddaughters, Kindsey Torris and Megan Smith; great grandson, Levi Blackhurst; great granddaughters, Hannah Blackhurst, Abigail Blackhurst, Nina Blackhurst, and Reagan Blackhurst; sister, Sherry Goodwin Montgomery and husband Major, of Pike Co. OH; several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, and many others in her life who knew her as Nana.
    Besides her parents, her sisters, Eloise Goodwin Delotell and Carol Jean Goodwin Burkitt, and nephew, Bradley Radar preceded in death.
    She was her a woman of great faith who openly spoke of her love and trust in God.
    Her passions included anything to do with nature, cross-stitching, crocheting, and reading.
    Services were Sunday, February 3, 2013, at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV. Reverend Major Montgomery officiated. Burial followed in Ravenswood Cemetery.
