I think the new postal rules are terrible. They can’t even hand a package through the door, even to the elderly.
A lot of elderly can’t get to the mailbox because of illness or they are crippled. They watch the mailman trying to stiff their packages into the mailbox or through the mail slot. It would have been much quicker to just hand it to them.
Most of these packages are medicine. If it’s heart medicine that is needed, they may have to wait even as long as 12 or 24 hours for help. They will probably try to get the package himself/herself and could end up with a broken arm or leg. They could even die without the medicine or it could be spoiled by heat or cold depending on the weather.
The mailman, of course, tries to do as he is told.
I like the courtesy of the old way. They could wave and say hello. They could hand a package to the sick and elderly and handicapped. They were always so polite.
