  • DODDRIDGE COUNTY - It didn’t start out well for Mick Price’s Runnin’ Red Devils Tuesday night, but in the end Ravenswood managed to leave Doddridge County High School with its fourth win of the season by registering a 48-40 decision over the Bulldogs.
Doddridge jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the opening quarter as Ravenswood’s offensive woes continued.
From there, though, Ravenswood managed to slowly but surely chisel away at the lead – outscoring the Bulldogs in the final three quarters, including 17-7 in the fourth.
Ravenswood got a game-high 29 from Jake Martin. The junior hit 10 shots from the field, including four 3-pointers.
Martin scored 19 of his points in the second half, hitting 6-of-8 shots from the floor. All four of his 3-pointers were made consecutively.
Martin was also 5-of-10 at the line. Besides his work in the scoring column, he pulled down 10 rebounds.
Heath Burgess finished the contest with eight points. Burgess nailed two 3-pointers in the game. Dalton Gandee had four, including a 3-pointer.
Ravenswood also got three points from Jon Crow and two each from Matt Peery and Dylan Radabaugh.
As a team, Ravenswood shot 40 percent from the field hitting 16-of-40. Ravenswood attempted 17 from the 3-point line. The Devils were 7-of-13 from the free throw line.
Ravenswood is trying to overcome depth issues following the loss of two players – Jeremy Balser and Isaac Crow – who were starters.
Besides Martin’s 10 boards, Peery yanked down six.
Burgess had four assists for the Devils while Martin came up with three steals.
Doddridge was led in scoring by Daniel Plaugher and Ashton Hinzman with nine points each. T. J. Baldwin scored eight. Dillon Alexander added five. Dyllan Hayes, Clayton Yeager and Keith Britton all scored three points.
Now 4-8, Ravenswood meets Pt. Pleasant Friday night on the road.
