Loretta Violet Phillips, 72, of Evans, WV, passed away January 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born January 27, 1940, in Akron, OH, a daughter of the late Emery and Lucy May (Hershman) Montgomery. Her brothers, Weitman, Lowell, and George D. Montgomery, and the couple that raised her, Emory and Annabelle West, also preceded her in death.
She was a retired supervisor from the sewing factory in Ripley, WV, and was a former employee of the sewing factory in Spencer, WV, and Kroger’s.
She was actively involved with the Jackson County Resource Center, and was a member and pianist of the Evans United Methodist Church. She was a musician, a singer, and enjoyed quilting.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Frederick Gary Phillips; son and his wife, Gregory Dean and Michele Phillips of Medina; daughter, Kelly Beth Hughart and her husband, Todd D. of Ripley; grandchildren, Emily, Melissa, Dalton, and Santana; brother, Paul H. Montgomery of Alliance, OH; sisters, Karen Anderson and Eleanor Sharp, both of Spencer.
Services were held Monday, January 21, 2013, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Lloyd Keith officiating. Burial followed in the Swank Cemetery, Spencer, WV.
