  • JACKSON COUNTY-One of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce your electric bill is to replace existing incandescent light bulbs with ENERGY STAR qualified lighting, such as compact fluorescent lights (CFLs).
Appalachian Power is working with participating stores to offer our West Virginia customers instant rebates on energy-efficient lighting. Look for the Appalachian Power Company (APCO) label on the shelf for qualifying bulbs. CFL availability may vary depending on retailer.
There is a 12-bulb limit per purchase. Product selection varies by store and retailer. Rebates are available while supplies last.
    ENERGY STAR light bulbs:
Use up to 75% less energy
Last up to 10 times longer
Save an average of $30 in energy costs over their lifetime
    Produce 75% less heat
Helps the environment by saving energy.
Savings are based on 6000-hour bulb lifetime, burning 3 hours per day at 9.1 cents per kWh.
CFLs contain a small amount of mercury and need to be disposed of properly and preferably recycled.
