  • PORTSMOUTH - In a 91-77 win over No. 10 NAIA Campbellsville last week, Shawnee State guard and former Lady Viking hoopster Alannah Sheets accomplished a milestone in her successful career as a collegiate athlete. She tickled the twine to the tune of one thousand points in her career.
This is nothing new for Sheets who is repeating the feat that she accomplished as a prep player.
The junior netted 15 points in the game and became only the 28th player in program history to achieve the benchmark.
The 15th ranked Lady Bears celebrated Sheets' teammate Alex Pohl earlier in the season as she reached the same milestone in her senior season.
Sheets took home an honorable mention NAIA All-America selection last season and was named to the All-MSC team.
The Lady Bears are currently 14-3 overall, including a 5-2 record in the Mid-South Conference.
Shawnee State, with Sheets leading the way last season, tied for the regular season title in the conference and claimed the runner-up trophy in the league tournament. Shawnee's strong season, in which it finished eighth in the NAIA Division I Coaches Poll Top 25, helped propel the Bears back to the nationals with an at-large bid.
As a prep, the scorer played for coach Steve Hunt, now an assistant on Ripley High's boys basketball team.
