RIPLEY - Coach Craig Harmon's Ripley hoops squad fought to the final buzzer but it wasn't enough as the Vikings fell 74-58 to a solid Hurricane Redskins team.
The Vikings (2-6) were coming off a road loss to No. 10 Huntington and were looking for some "home cooking" in the familiar surroundings of Ripley Health Center.
The game was tight before Hurricane pulled away in the final period. Early in the third, Ripley was down by a bucket and it appeared they were surging to take the lead.
If you are a fan of hustle, it was great to see Casy Smith, Kade Harrison, Jacob Haynes, Chuck Sleboda, Drew Harpold among others diving for loose balls, even when the game was out of reach.
Harrison had a stellar night as he gnashed the nets to the tune of 30 points. He hit two 3-point shots in the final period that kept the game within reach for Ripley. Drew Harpold added 10 and Casy Smith nine and Austin Parsons four.
