  • Pauline Sayre Barnette, 95, of Melbourne,FL, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Melbourne.
    Pauline was a former resident of Dunbar and a member of the former Evangelical United Brethren Church in Dunbar.
    After moving to Florida, her membership was transferred to the United Methodist Church in Melbourne and was later transferred back to the Dunbar United Methodist Church. She was a long time member of the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 133 in Dunbar for many years and then moved her membership to Chapter 106 in Melbourne, Fla.
    Pauline began her work at home helping care for her thirteen brothers and sisters. In the 1930s she began working at Fletcher Enamel Company and then Dunbar Glass Company where she met her husband, Hearsel. She loved to travel and took many bus trips with her church group.
    Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac A. and Anna May Bennett Sayre, her husband, Hearsel Andrew Barnette, sisters, Geraldine Higginbotham, Elizabeth Hawkins, Jeanette Trent Winters and Katherine Sayre, brothers, Warren Allen, Lawrence, Donald, Billy, Bobby and her twin brother, Paul.
    Surviving are her son, Hearsel Ray Barnette of Mobile, AL; her daughter and longtime caregiver, Lou Ann Platt of Indian Harbour Beach, FL; brother, Frank L. Sayre of Dunbar; sister, Mary Maxine Jordan Witt of Red House; grandchildren, Troy Scott, Brian Todd, Adam Brett and Carrie Ann; great grandchildren, Andrew and Christian, Jordan and Austin, Serene and Maya. Pauline is also survived by several extended family members and close friends, especially Ed and Jean Harrison and family and the Baileys.
    Pauline was loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
    Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, January 10 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor John A. Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. Friends may call at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar two hours prior to the service on Thursday
    In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1111 E. Lee Street, Charleston, WV 25301.
