  • Devilettes trip Tyler, fall to 'Jackets

  • KIDWELL - Coach Cara Williams' Class AA No. 13-ranked Ravenswood Red Devilettes (6-4) knocked down 25 of 29 free throws (86%) on their way to a 73-66 LKC North win over host Tyler Consolidated Thursday night at Kidwell.
    Sophomore Hailey Miller poured in 21 points to pace the Devilettes to the win, while senior Taylor Youell and senior Melonna Carmichael added 19 and 17 respectively.
    Hannah Murray chipped in 10, blocked two shots and grabbed six rebounds; Kayla Scritchfield four points; and Taylor Treadway two points, two assists and three boards b3fore fouling out.
    Ravenswood eked out a 17-16 first quarter lead and added a 21-10 spurt in the second quarter for a 38-26 lead at the half.
    Both teams dropped in 14 in the third quarter, before the Knights put up a 26-21 fourth quarter advantage for the final margin.
    Torrye Cline scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Silver Knights. Sydney Reed added 16 points and Sophie Kinnard 14 points and nine boards.
    For Ravenswood who shot 54% from the floor and buried six treys, Youell dished off four assists and Carmichael three.
    Six players notched one steal each.
    The Devilettes scratched and clawed their way back into the game multiple times at Williamstown Wednesday night, but came up one life short as the 'Jackets put up a 17-13 scoring margin in the final eight minutes to slip away with a 71-67 win. Kathleen Cornell scored 10 of her 12 points in that final frantic quarter.
    Down 70-67, Ravenswood had a chance to tie with 32.8 seconds left after Treadway forced a Jacket turnover, but Carmichael' s short-armed trey try and a follow-up miss sealed the deal.
    Five Devilettes scored in double figures—led by senior Taylor Youell's 18. Hiley Miller scored13, Melonna Carmichael (three treys) and Hannah Murray 12 each and Taylor Treadway 10. Kayla Scritchfield chipped in two points.
    Williamstown was led by Kenzie Smith (12 points), Cornell (12), Brooke Cieslewski (11) and Carley Ellison and Lauren Amos (10 each).
    Ravenswood shot 39% from the floor, 38% from beyond the arc (5 of 13) and 75% from the free throw line (12 of 16).
    Miller grabbed 10 rebounds and Treadway nine. Murray blocked six shots and Treadway, Carmichael and Kindsey Torris one each.
    Carmicahel dished off five assists, Youell and Miller four each and Treadway three. Treadway notched five steals and Youell, Carmichael and Murray two each. Scritchfield grabbed four boards.
