  • Charles Ashley Burdette, Jr., 82, of Cottageville, WV, passed away January 4, 2013, in Thomas Memorial Hospital, South Charleston, WV.
    He was born October 24, 1930, in Meadow Bridge, WV, a son of the late Charles A., Sr., and Rosa Garnet (Lilly) Burdette. His wife, Anna Mae (Fox) Burdette, his son, Curtis Burdette, a daughter, Wilma Surbaugh, brothers, Earl, and Ray, and a sister, Margaret McKinney, also preceded him in death.
    He was a retired storeroom clerk from Kaiser Aluminum, and member of the United Steelworkers Union, Local #5668. He was a Baptist, a member of the VFW, the Moose Lodge, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and trading.
    Survivors include his son, Larry Burdette of Fostoria, OH; daughters, Angela “Kay” Huddleston of Ravenswood, Missy Allen of Louisville, KY, and Carolyn Baker and Shirley Burdette, both of Fostoria, OH; brothers, Delmar Burdette of Danese, WV, and Clarence Burdette of Meadow Bridge, WV; sister, Madelyn Williams of Meadow Bridge, and nine grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
    Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, January 6, 2013, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Gerald B. Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in Blaine Memorial Cemetery, Cottageville. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service.
