James E. Griffith, 90, of Parkersburg passed away Dec. 26, 2012 at his home.
He was born Jan. 1, 1922, in Sandyville, WV a son to the late Albert and Anna Richards Griffith.
He was a WWII US Army veteran serving in Italy and then went on to work and retire from GE Plastics. He served as a Little League baseball coach, was an avid woodcrafter, loved the outdoors, never met a stranger, and was always there to help. He served many years as a Decon at Bible Baptist Church.
Jim is survived by his wife of 66 years, Beatrice “Peggy” Conger Griffith, three sons, Roger Giffith (Donna) of Parkersburg, Randy Griffith (Sheila) of Ormond Beach, FL and David Griffith (Dianne) of Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren, Rhonda, Wendy, Alison, Kelly, and Lukas James, great grandchildren, Alexandria, Ash, Breanna, and Samantha, along with many extended family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather that will be terribly missed by all.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, and 5 sisters.
The Service was Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg. Pastor Dan Stevens officiated. Visitation was noon untill the time of service on Sunday. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.sunsetparkersburg.com.
