  • RAVENSWOOD – Ravenswood was looking for a pre-Christmas present on Saturday in the form of a victory against Parkersburg Catholic.
Instead, it was a game the Devils were likely looking to take back the day after Christmas in search of an exchange.
The Crusaders proved to be scrooge against Mick Price's crew, dishing out a 71-35 loss.
Things started out on a bad note and never got better. Catholic outscored Ravenswood 19-7 in the opening period. Things went from bad to worse in the second period with the Crusaders limiting the Red Devils to only three points while pouring in 22 on the offensive end.
"They blew us out from the get-go," said Price, who saw his team drop to 1-2 on the season.
Catholic outpointed the Devils, 20-10, in the third. Ravenswood did manage to outscore Catholic, 15-10, in the fourth but it was way too little, too late.
"We had trouble scoring and defended poorly," said Price. "In a game like that you're going to get nailed."
Isaac Crow led Ravenswood in not one, but two departments. Crow scored 10 points and snagged 10 rebounds for a double-double.
Dalton Gandee finished with eight points while Jacob Barr and Jeremy Balser scored six. Closing out Ravenswood's scoring were Jake Martin and Jon Crow with two and Heath Burgess with one. Gandee and Balser each hit two 3-pointers – Ravenswood's only four of the game. The Devils were 14-of-49 from the field. At the free throw line Ravenswood made 3-of-7 attempts. Jake Ullam took game-scoring honors with 29 for the Crusaders. Catholic also won the junior varsity game with a 71-44 win. Jon Crow and Logan Jarrett were Ravenswood's scoring leaders with delivering 12 points each.
