  • Devilette seniors lead 63-52 win at Gilmer

  • GLENVILLE – Ravenswood's Red Devilette senior trio of Taylor Youell, Melonna Carmicahel and Hannah Murray led the say in double figures as Coach Cara Williams' gals beat host Gilmer County, 63-52, Saturday in Glenville.
    Youell (six steals) shared game scoring honors with Titan Morgan Allen. Each canned16 points.
    For the Devilettes, Carmichael added 15 points, along with seven rebounds, five assists and five steals. Murray chipped in 12 points and four assists. Hailey Miller added nine points and six rebounds, Taylor Treadway six points and a pair of steals before fouling out, Kindsey Torris and Taylor Love two points each and Kayla Scritchfield one point.
    Julie Bishop added 11 points for Gilmer and Michaela Gumm eight.
    Ravenswood burned the Titans with a 18-7 first-quarter scoring advantage and added a 15-6 margin in the second quarter for a 33-13 lead at the half. Gilmer outscored the Devilettes 19-11 in the third quarter and 20-19 in the final eight minutes.
    The Devilettes shot 38% from the floor, draining 18 of 47 shots and 27% from beyond the arc on 3-of-11 from long range.
    Ravenswood (3-0) played at sectional rival Ritchie County Tuesday night and will host St. Marys Friday in their first LKC North clash of the season.
    After a Christmas hiatus, the Devilettes will play in the Rod Hudson Memorial Holiday Tournament at Ripley December 27-28 to begin five straight road games.
