  • Ritchie holds off Devilette rally

  • ELLENBORO - Ritchie County senior guard Tristan Tomas poured in 33 points, but host Ritchie County had to hold off a fourth-quarter rally by Coach Cara Williams' Ravenswood Red Devilettes for a 69-57 win Tuesday night at Ellenboro.
    Toman and Amanda Davis (10 points) were the Rebels' only double digit scorers with no other player scoring over four points.
    Sophomore Hailey Miller scored 18 points to pace the Devilettes. Hannah Murray added 13 and Taylor Youell 10. Taylor Treadway added nine, Melonna Carmichael five and Kayla Scritchfield two.
    For Ritchie, Vanessa Tallman, Micah Ray and Abby Burgess added four points each, Leah Kuhn three and Kylie Gump two.
    The Rebels opened with a 16-12 scoring advantage in the first quarter and added a 14-9 spread in the second for a 30-21 lead at the half.
    Both teams scored 15 points in the third quarter, before Ravenswood mounted a charge in the final eight minutes trimming the Rebel lead to just three points with a 21-15 scoring advantage down the stretch.
    Ravenswood shot just 26% from the floor, canning just 18 of 67 shots.
    Treadway grabbed 10 of Ravenswood's 26 rebounds.
    Murray blocked two shots, dished off three assists and notched two steals. Carmichael blocked two shots, dished off a pair of assists and notched four steals. Youell had a pair of steals.
    Ravenswood (3-1, 0-1 LKC North) hosted unbeaten LKC North foe and Class A Top 5 St. Marys with freshman Ashley Hall Friday at the RvHS Physical Education Building. The Deviletes play next in the Rod Hudson Memorial Holiday Tournament Dec. 27-28 at Ripley.
