  • LOGAN COUNTY - Coach Frashier and his Lady Viking hoops squad made the exhausting jaunt to Logan County to face the Lady Hillbillies of Man High School last Tuesday.
The Class A hoopsters of coach Tonia Ward were coming off a loss to Logan in their opener and were looking to get one in the win column.
Ripley (0-1) was down 12-9 at halftime but it was a 14-6 deficit in the third that did the most damage to the blue and white hopes on this night.
Both teams came out sluggish and scoring was hard to come by. It was as if both teams were shooting at a thimble.
Ripley shot 11-of-62 (17.7%) from the field and an equally gnarly 9-of-34 (26.5 %) from the charity stripe on the night.
It doesn't take a math major to know that those numbers will not lead you to victory, regardless of the opponent.
"The girls did everything great except for putting the ball in the hole. It is very upsetting because we are a good team and these girls deserve better reults," said Frashier.
Mikayla Pursley netted eight points and three rebounds, Keli Poling scored eight points and eleven rebounds, Jade Donohew had five points and 10 rebounds, Chelsey Hager had five points and two assists, Sara Williams netted four points and nine rebounds and Kensey Bergdorf and Kacie Whitney had a point each.
Ripley returns to action Friday on the road versus Winfield.
