  • When the Adopt-A-Family Screening Committee met on Thursday, there were approximately 20 new applications to review. Fifteen families have been on ‘hold’ since last week’s meeting, with committee members checking further on these groups. Four families still remain on “hold” for further checking by committee members... The committee actually worked on 35 applications on Thursday. Applications are still being accepted and can be picked up at The Jackson Star News, 410 Race Street, between the hours of 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, or by calling Sally Carter at 273-9897. Twelve applications have arrived that have not been signed, nor the address given on the form. This same section of the application requests that you give directions to your home from Ravenswood. This information goes at the very bottom of form on the front side. Without this information, the Screening Committee cannot take any action on the forms. If you believe that you might not have signed your application, please stop at the news office and pick up a new application and fill it out completely. Church groups, individuals or organizations that would like to adopt one or more families for Christmas should give Mrs. Carter a call at 304 273-9897.
