  • Devilettes spikers end season with sectional losses

  • SPENCER – Coach Gary Braham's Ravenswood Red Devilette volleyballers bowed out of the posseason with a pair of sectional tournament losses at Roane County High School Wednesday.
    The Devilettes dropped their tournament firsxt round match to the host Raiders, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21, 23-25, 7-15, and then lost to Braxton Count in the consolation semifinals, 15-25, 25-14, 22-25.
    Versus Roane County, Katie Buckbee led the scoring with 25 points. Haley Palmer added 22 points, Kayla Hoff 17, Michaela Hughes nine, Tia Querrey and Jordan Strickland eight each and Natalie Francis two.
    Querrey was the top server at 20/23 (three aces) and setter (101/106). Buckbee was the top passer (50/60). Palmer led in spiking (31/33-13 kills) and blocking (10). Hoff added 14 kills and Buckbee 11. Buckbee had seven blocks and Hoff three.
    Kayla King paced the Raiders with 25 points. Muriah Nutter had 97 sets and Beth Hylbert 23 spikes-12 kills.
    Buckbee also led the scoring in the loss to Barxton County with 24 points. Hoff added 17. Palmer 12, Hughes 10, Querrey nine, Francis five and Strickland three.
    Querrey was the top server (23/23-six aces) and setter (108/114). Buckbee led in passing (41/56) and spiking (30/37-13 kills). Hoff was the top blocker with eight. Hoff added 11 kills. Plamer chipped in five kills and five blocks.
    Sierra Stump paced the Eagles with 24 points.
    On October 25 at Ritchie County, the Devilettes dropped both ends of a tri-match, falling to Bridgeport (15-25, 25-14, 22-25) and the host Rebels (25-10, 25-21).
    Buckbee led the scoring versus Bridgeport with 16 points. Palmer added 14, Hoff 11, Hughes eight, and Querrey and Francis three each.
    Buckbee also led the scoring versus the Rebels with nine points. Hughes added seven, Palmer five, Hiff four, and Querrey and Ashley Sauls one each.
    Ravenswood closed out a 25-24 season. Haley Palmer and Kayla Hoff closed out their Devilette volleyball careers.
