  • Vikings third, Lady Vikings sixth in MSAC

  • CEDAR LAKES - Beautiful Cedar Lakes played host to the annual Mountain State Athletic Conference Championship Meet on Wednesday with the host Vikings and Lady Vikings finishing third and sixth in their divisions, respectively.
    The Vikings were third in the 12-team field by accumulating 90 points. Cabell Midland, led by one of the state's greatest distance runners of all-time in Jacob Burcham, won the meet with a winning total of 25 points. Parkersburg finished second in front of the Vikings with 82 points.
    Burcham was the winner of the boys race with a time of 15:47.20.
    Ripley's top finisher was Chad Longanacre who came in seventh with 17:08.10.
    Caleb Casto was next in line for the Vikings with a 16th place finish in a time of 17:37.40. Jake Casto was 18th (17:43.90).
    Ryan Gregory was 27th (17:59.90), Levi Phillips was 38th (18:23.30), and Sammy Shaver placed 45th (18:42.50).
    Also for the Vikings, Dillon Welling was 70th (19:43.50), Colton Holmes was 78th (20:04.40), Nate Miller was 85th (20:15.10), Christian Fields placed 90th (20:25.90) and Khalil Thomas was 98th (20:59.30).
    The Lady Vikings scored 161 points in the girls competition that was won by Hurricane's 43. Parkersburg placed second in the field of 10 teams with 61 points.
    Capital's Peyton Panger was the winner of the girls race with a time of 19:15.20.
    Ripley's top finisher was Ali Cunningham, who placed eighth in a time of 20:33.70.
    Maddi Randolph was 35th (22:49.60), Melissa Hughart was 36th (23:06.90), Molli Cunningham was 64th (24:36.20), Sapphire Parsons was 73rd (25:25.10) and Audra Thomas was 95th (28:21.30) for the Lady Vikings.
