Viking lineman Andy Mellert crowned homecoming king, Caressa Robinson is queen

RIPLEY - Viking defensive back Justin Hinzman recovered a fumble on a Raider punt return with two minutes left in the game to seal the oppositions fate as Ripley edged Roane County 27-19 on homecoming night at Death Valley.

Tyler Pittenger scored twice and Kade Harrison hit paydirt once for Ripley. The highlight of the evening was a spectacular 62-yard touchdown scamper by Viking quarterback Jake Martin with 5:41 left in the first quarter. Tyler Kidd made a beautiful catch on the home sideline that kept a scoring drive alive for Ripley. (see photo)

At halftime, Viking offensive lineman Andy Mellert was crowned homecoming king and Caressa Robinson was named queen.

Ripley held the Raiders scoreless in the second half after taking a slim 21-19 lead into halftime.

Ripley travels to Hurricane October 5.
