  • RAVENSWOOD – Williamstown used a trio of field goals including a 50 yarder to hand host Ravenswood their second straight loss, 23-7, Friday night at Flinn Field.
For the Devils, it was not a good night on offense or defense after the opening quarter.
Williamstown scored first as David Hastings capped a nine-play, 48-yard drive with a one-yard plunge. The drive began when Ravenswood attempted a fake punt option run in their own territory that was stopped short. Garret Butler drilled the PAT kick and the Yellow Jackets led 7-0 with 7:35 left in the opening quarter.
Red Devil junior Heath Burgess stopped another Yellow Jacket scoring threat by intercepting a Jake Tracewell pass in the end zone.
The Red Devils answered with a 14-play, 65-yard drive of their own as the first quarter would down. Rhys Jelich capped the march with a three-yard run off right tackle for the touchdown. Mason Carte added the PAT boot and the game was tied 7-7.
Williamstown broke the deadlock via Garret Butler's toe with a 29-yard field goal halfway through the second quarter. Butler's kick capped a six-play, 56-yard drive with 5:17 left in the first half.
The Yellow Jackets added another field goal—this one from 21 yards out—with just 10.9 seconds left in the half. Butler's kick called an eight-play, 82-yard drive. The Yellow Jackets led 13-7 at the half.
Williamstown scored again with 6:27 left in the third quarter. Gage Wix hauled in a nine-yard TD pass from Jake Tracewell to cap a 12=play, 66-yard drive. Butler's PAT kick made to 20-7.
Ravenswood answered with a long drive into Yellow Jacket territory powered by the running of Rhys Jelich. But Jelich fumbled twice at the end of the drive, losing the last one to the Jackets at the Williamstown nine.
The Yellow jackets ended the scoring with a six-play, 50-yard march started by a Beua Wasmer interception of a Health Burgess pass. Butler kicked a 50-yard field goal with 2:19 to play in the game.
