  • Margie Moore Whitman, 76, of Ravenswood, West Virginia, formerly of Reedy, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

  • Margie Moore Whitman, 76, of Ravenswood, West Virginia, formerly of Reedy, West Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2012 at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
    She was born June 20, 1936 at Sunflower, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Dwight Mason Moore and Lula Nay Moore.
    She was retired from Roane County Schools with over 20 years of service as a cook at Reedy Grade School and attended the Reedy Baptist Church.
    She is survived by two daughters, Susan Baker of Silverton, West Virginia and Lynn Rawson of Grove City, Ohio; a son, Mike Whitman of Newton, West Virginia; two sisters, Betty of Cincinnati, Ohio and Peg of Akron, Ohio; four grandsons; three step-granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Jackson Whitman, in 2001; a son, Mark Alan Whitman; two sisters; and four brothers.
    A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at the Good Hope Cemetery near Reedy.
    There were no services or visitation at the funeral home.
    After the service at the cemetery, a dinner was served at the Reedy Baptist Church where the family received friends.
    Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home in Spencer, West Virginia, is in charge of the arrangements.
