RIPLEY - After starting quarterback Trevor Tucker went down with a knee injury in Thursday's practice, Jake Martin was the man under center on Friday night. Martin's arm and quick feet led Ripley to a 34-0 victory over Lincoln County at Death Valley.
Unofficially, Martin completed 8-of-17 passes for 225 yards and three touchdowns and netted another 75 yards on the ground for the Vikings.
Junior wideout Kade Harrison was responsible for the lion's share of those passing yards. Harrison hauled in three passes for 132 yards and a touchdown. One play was a dazzling 65-yard bomb down the sideline.
Ripley's defense was rugged on this night as they made three goal line stands to preserve the shutout.
Ripley (2-2) hit the road next Friday to take on Woodrow Wilson in Beckley. Check back for a full story, video highlights and player interviews on this Viking victory.
