EASTWOOD – The outcome wasn't what they wanted, but the effort was there.

Ravenswood's Lady Devils battled defending state AA champion Grafton scoreless for 65 minutes Saturday in a defensive soccer battle royale at Eastwood before falling 1-0.

The loss leaves the No. 20-ranked Lady Devils at 1-4 on the season, but it was' their most gritty defensive game to date.
Senior keeper Anna Flesher recorded 11 saves in goal, denying all 11 of the Bearcats' shots on goal for the game.

Grafton's lone goal of the game—the only goal of the game— came with less than 15 minutes left in the second half when a Bearcat corner kick deflected off a Ravenswood defender and caromed into the net.

The Lady Devils are still having difficulty offensively, as they had no official shots on goal in Saturday's game.

"We had a couple of key players banged up, so we didn't have much of a push," said Coach Kim Sheets, "but it is probably the best they have played together since our scrimmage."
