  • Devilettes spikers go 3-1 in pool play

  • WEST UNION – Ravenswood's Red Devilette volleyball team opened their season at 3-1 in pool play at the Doddridge County Invitational Saturday.
    Ravenswood defeated Liberty Harrison, 25-21, 11-25, 15-5, host Doddridge, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12, and Buffalo, 25-17, 21-25, 16-14, but lost to Williamstown, 25-12, 25-14.
    In the win over Liberty Harrison, Haley Palmer led the way with 13 points. Katie Buckbee added 10,
    Natalie Francis eight, Tai Querrey six, and Kayla Hoff and Ashley Sauls five each.
    Francis was the top server at 16/16 (four aces).
    Querrey was 10/10 (two aces), Sauls 10/11 (ace) and Buckbee 7/7 (two aces). Buckbee was the top passer (24/30).
    Querrey was the top setter (32/36). Palmer led in spiking (13/16-10 kills). Hoff was the top blocker (4/5).
    Abbie Smith paced Liberty Harrison with 11 points.
    In the win over Doddridge, Palmer and Hoff led the way with 13 and 12 points respectively.
    Buckbee added 10, Querrey eight, Francis four, Michaela Hughes three and Jordan Strickland two.
    Querrey was the top server (13/14-three aces) and setter (42/46).
    Palmer served three aces and Hughes and Francis two each.
    Buckbee was the top passer (20/26) and spiker (18/19-five kills).
    Hoff had seven kills and Palmer six. Palmer and Hoff had two blocks each.
    Emily Cade paced the Bulldogs with 10 points.
    In the win over Buffalo, Buckbee led the way with 14 points. Hoff added 11, Hughes and Palmer nine each, Querrey eight, Strickland three, Francis two and Sauls one.
    Querrey was the top server (12/12-three aces) and setter (39/43).
    Buckbee led in passing (20/26) and spiking (12/15-six kills). Hoff added six kills and Palmer five. Hoff had two blocks and Palmer one.
    Charli Mabie led Buffalo with 11 points.
    In the loss to Williamstown, Palmer scored seven points, Buckbee six, Hoff four and Francis Jordan Strickland and Hughes one point each for Ravenswood.
    Hughes was the top server at 6/6. Palmer led in passing (15/28) and spiking (7/8-two kills). Querrey was 17/8 in sets.
    Buckbee added four kills and Hoff two.
    Hoff and Buckbee had three blocks each, Palmer two and Francis one.
    Lincoln Postlewaite paced Williamstown with 13 points.
