On Tuesday, September 11, the Ripley Baptist Temple and Pastor Rick Perrine will be hosting the 11th annual “Ripley Remembers 9/11” Memorial Service at 7 p.m. on the Jackson County Courthouse lawn.
Some of the elements of this special service will be patriotic music, a time of prayer for our nation, and patriotic addresses from community leaders. All veterans and military personnel, as well as emergency services, fire departments and police departments will be honored.
American Legion Post 107 will be presenting the colors, and Marine Corps League 1065 will perform a 21-gun salute in honor of those who lost their lives.
We must never forget the lives that have been sacrificed for the cause of freedom, and we will not forget what was done on that dreadful day — September 11, 2001.
Bring a lawn chair and join in this great assembly, as we honor these men and women and pray for our country and its leaders. In the case of rain, the service will be held at the Ripley Baptist Temple auditorium on the corner of Third Avenue and Charleston Drive.
