Gladys Mabel (Durst) Keefer, 91, of Leon, WV, passed away June 22, 2012, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston, following an extended illness.
She was born Dec. 2, 1920, in Cottageville, WV, a daughter of the late Eddie Franklin and Bertha (Patterson) Durst. Her husband, Lester Keefer; brothers, Roy Durst, and Blaine Durst, and a sister, Mildred Hawkins, also preceded her in death.
She was a homemaker, a Protestant, and enjoyed quilting, gardening, reading, cooking and tending to her family.
Surviving are sons, Arthur Keefer and Ray Keefer, both of Leon; daughters, Nora Donohew of Evans, and Reba Workman of Maysel; brothers, Virgil Durst of Cottageville, Clarence Durst and Delbert Durst both of Leon; sisters, Hazel Brummond of Barberton, OH, and Sylvia Ridenour of Leon, seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Service was 3 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV. The Rev. Lloyd Keith officiated.
Burial followed in the Smith Church Cemetery, Leon. Visitation was on Sunday, from 1 p.m. until time of service.
