  • The Jackson County Board of Education has named Steve Lough as the new Athletic Director at Ripley High School.
Lough will assume duties immediately. Jimmy Frashier, who recently stepped down from the position was in his third year on the job. “I realized that I needed to put more time into being a teacher and head football coach,” Said Frashier. “Steve will do a fantastic job for Ripley High School.”
Lough is in his seventh year as athletic trainer for the blue and white and sees the position as something he can contribute something positive to.
“I will already be at every home event as athletic trainer and I feel that I have gotten to know the coaches well and I understand how they work.
I just want to continue to create a great atmosphere for all Ripley High student athletes,” said Lough.
The position involves  scheduling for each sport, arranging busses and working on athletic budgets with each respective coach among other duties. Ripley Principal Will Hosaflook is confident that Lough is the right man for the job.
“Steve is very organized and passionate about Ripley High athletics. He will represent the school well and do a fine job for us.”
Lough became interested in the field when he was an assistant to the AD at Martinsburg High School prior to coming to Ripley.
Lough is fresh off of his fifth year (third in a row) as the Athletic Trainer for the North-South Classic football game in Charleston.
Lough was also named the West Virginia Athletic Trainer of the Year earlier this spring by the West Virginia Athletic Trainer’s Association.
