  • Ripley High was represented by a trio in the West Virginia Sportswriter’s AAA All State selections this week.
Sophomore Reese Gandee notched Special Honorable Mention honors as the only returning All-State selection for Ripley from 2011 where she garnered a  Second Team All State award as a freshman when she went 9-4 on the hill.
The gunslinger was 13-7 with an ERA of 2.15 while fanning 91 batters in 2012.
Senior Ryne Hill brought home an Honorable Mention selection. Hill was a versatile chess piece in coach Ken Swisher’s line-up for four years. Hill hit .338 in 2012, which tied Makenzie Hesson for top batting average on the team. Hesson also snagged an Honorable Mention selection for 2012.
Hesson played a near flawless second base for Ripley High.
Hill and Hesson were also members of  Ripley’s 2009 State Championship softball team coached by Swisher. Ryne Hill has signed with Fairmont State and plans to play softball for the Division II Lady Falcons. Hesson plans to hang up the spikes and attend Marshall this fall.
