  •  Linebackser Kyle Griffith will hold a roster spot for West Virginia team in the 19th Annual Battle Against Cystic Fibrosis Football Classic. The game pits West Virginia against Ohio players as all proceeds benefit a worthy charity.  The game will take place June 8.
Griffith finished third on the 2012 Red Devil football team in tackles with 72 and also notched four sacks, three PBU’s and a fumble recovery.
“I was really excited when I heard that I was chosen. I am excited to get the chance to go out and represent my school and state. It’s for a great cause,” said Griffith.
The 5-9 205 lbs linebacker plans to walk on at Marshall University this fall for the Thundering Herd football team.
“I am going to have to add 15 pounds to my frame and work very hard.  I visited with the coaches and toured the school and it just felt like the place for me to be. It will be a challenge but I’m up for it,” said Griffith.
Griffith will join teammates Dustin Derito, Jeremy Lawrence, Zack Martin, Chad Burroughs, Jeremy Burgess, Tyler Miller, Jordan Yencha and Brandon Cunningham. on the BACF Classic squad.
Ravenswood initially tied Parkersburg with the most West Virginia players on the roster with six before three more Devils were invited earlier this week due to a light West Virginia roster.  Mike Dawson is the head coach at Richie County High and will lead the West Virginia squad.
