  • Delano Gary Skeens, 75, of Leon, WV, passed away March 12, 2012, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, following an extended illness.

  • Delano Gary Skeens, 75, of Leon, WV, passed away March 12, 2012, at Cabell-Huntington Hospital, Huntington, following an extended illness.
    He was born October 31, 1936, in Big Ugly, WV, a son of Lawrence A. Skeens of Proctorville, OH, and the late Gracie Marie (Farley) Skeens. His wife, Jo Ann Skeens, and a sister, Mary Frances Collier, also preceded him in death.
    He was a retired vending machine mechanic for Canteen Service, was an avid fisherman, and member of the Ravenswood Freewill Baptist Church.
    Survivors include his sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin and Loretta Skeens, of Mt. Sterling, OH, Delano G., Jr. and Marcia Skeens, of Orient, OH, and Lawrence and Simone Skeens of Columbus, OH; daughters, Betty Brotherton, of Leon, and Bonnie Pistelli and her husband, Lowell, of Ripley; 24 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, and special extended family and friends, Rick Donohew, Sharon Skeens, Teresa and Dale Miller, and Jeana German.
    Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans with the Rev. Benjamin Riggleman officiating.
    Burial will follow in the Creston Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to time of service.
