Coach Dick Sturm’s Red Devils got back on the winning track with a 35-6 win over Clay County last weekend. The win halted a stunning two-game losing skid. The Devils produced a balanced offensive attack against the Panthers with 358 total yards (174 rushing—109 by Jeremy Lawrence and 184 passing), while surrendering 270 yards (170 rushing—65 on a fake punt run for a TD and 100 passing).

St. Marys has wins over Tyler Consolidated (39-0), Calhoun County (42-20), Gilmer County (53-12) and South Harrison (39-14). The Blue Devils have won three straight games heading into Friday’s game at Flinn Field.

Loses have come to Ritchie County (38-22), Wirt County (28-7), Parkersburg Catholic (20-14) and Williamstown (14-0).

For the Blue Devils, Cole White (5-9, 200, Sr.) ran for 140 yards and Noah Spitzer (5-11, 176, So.) 108 yards in last weekend’s 39-14 win over South Harrison.

In the 53-12 blowout of Gilmer County, the Blue Devils rolled up 364 rushing yards on 54 carries. Jeremy Pratt (5-10, 178, Fr.) rambled for 137 yards on 15 carries. Andrew Cosper (5-9, 137, Jr.) added 63 yards and Spitzer 52 yards.

In the 42-20 win over Calhoun County, quarterback K.D. Arnett (6-0, 184, Sr.) threw a pair of TD passes and ran for another score in a second-half surge.
Spitzer ran for 132 yards and three TDs and caught a TD pass in the 39-0 shut-out of Tyler Consolidated.

Tyler Davis (6-0, 232, So.), Cole Jones (5-9, 234, Fr.), Dylan Wolfe (6-4, 175, Fr.), Andrew Cosper, Derek Barnhart (5-9, 206, Jr.) Cole White and Arnett are key Blue Devil defenders.

PRE-GAME NOTES: The win over Clay County made the 2012 senior class the winningest in Red Devils history with 37 total career wins…a fixture on the Ravenswood football schedule in the ‘60s and ‘70s. St. marys returned as an opponent in 2009. Ravenswood won 35-7 at Flinn Field in that first resumption of the series and won 27-7 last year at St. Marys behind a defense that recorded seven quarterback sacks, five tackles for loss and forced two turnovers…Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. with the Senior Night ceremony to precede kickoff.
