John W. Sizemore, 85,of Leon, WV, departed this life October 25, 2011, at his home following an extended illness.

He was born April 6, 1926, in Flatlick, KY, a son of the late Gillis and Ellen (Lawson) Sizemore.  His stepdaughter, Delia Harmon, stepson, Larry Joe Durst, and a step-grandson, James Michael Whittington, also preceded him in death.

He was a retired vehicle operator from Conrail Railroad Company and attended the Willing Heart Outreach, Point Pleasant.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Birdie Jacqueline “Jackie” (Fauver) Sizemore; daughter and her husband, Nancy Diane and Butch Bonecutter of Pt. Pleasant; son and his wife, Ernie Joe and Angela Sizemore of Gallipolis Ferry; stepsons and their wives, Sheldon F. and Shirley Durst, Roger and Tricia Durst and stepdaughter and her husband, Debra and Roger Whittington, all of Leon; brothers, Edward Sizemore of Manchester, KY, Louis and his wife, Mary Sizemore, of Morristown, TN, and Andrew Sizemore of Lima, OH; sisters, Evelyn and her husband, Norman Cruson, Pearl and her husband, Bill Reece, all of Lima, OH; grandsons, Jeremy and his wife, Tara Whittington, of Inwood, WV, Kevin and his wife, Mandy Durst, Wesley Durst, Scott and his wife, Joy Durst, and Trevor Harmon, all of Leon; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, October 27, 2011, at Casto Funeral Home Chapel, Evans, WV, with the Rev. Stanley Shaffer officiating.  Burial will follow in the Baden-Presbyterian Cemetery, Leon.  Visitation will be from noon until time of service.
