Senior tri-captain Hannah Gurtis scored a pair of unassisted goals in a four minute span to lift the No. 15-ranked Ravenswood Lady Red Devils to a 2-0 win over Huntington St. Joseph in the regular season road finale on Thursday.


Senior tri-captain Hannah Gurtis scored a pair of unassisted goals in a four minute span to lift the No. 15-ranked Ravenswood Lady Red Devils to a 2-0 win over Huntington St. Joseph in the regular season road finale on Thursday.
The game was tied 0-0 at the half, before Gurtis booted her first goal in the 66th minute of play.
Four minutes later in the 70th minute, Gurtis scored again to make to 2-0 in favor of the Lady Devils.
Ravenswood (7-7-2) had 10 shots on goal to 14 for St. Joseph (6-11-2).
Lady Red Devil goalkeeper Anna Flesher had 13 saves.
Rachel Lee had nine for St. Joseph. Each team had three corner kicks.
Ravenswood hosts the Class AA Region 4 Section 1 Tournament beginning tonight (Tuesday).
 The Lady Red Devils (7-7-2) will take on the Point Pleasant Lady Knights (4-8-4) at 6 p.m.
The winner will advance to Thursday’s championship game at 6 p.m. versus Class AA/A No. 1 ranked Sissonville (14-3-1).
Ravenswood tied the Lady Indians 1-1 at Eastwood in their only meeting of the season.
Ravenswood lost 2-1on a late goal to the Lady Indians in a bruising, physical  2010 sectional championship game at Point Pleasant.
In a recent 3-1 loss to Linsly, freshman Kayla Scritchfield scored Ravenswood’s goal off an assist from Gurtis. Flesher had 11 keeper saves.
