URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CHARLESTON WV 919 PM EST WED FEB 24 2010 ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST SATURDAY... A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM EST SATURDAY. A PROLONGED SNOW SHOWER EPISODE IS FORECAST...THAT BEGINS OVERNIGHT...AND CONTINUES INTO SATURDAY. THE SNOW SHOWERS WILL VARY IN INTENSITY. THIS EVENT IS EXPECTED TO UNFOLD AS FOLLOWS... SNOW SHOWERS OVERNIGHT COULD CAUSE TRAVEL PROBLEMS...INCLUDING DURING THE MORNING COMMUTE. SOME BREAKS IN THE SNOW SHOWERS MAY OCCUR DURING THE DAY THURSDAY. THE AREAL COVERAGE AND ACCUMULATION OF THE SNOW IS THEN EXPECTED TO BE THE GREATEST OVERNIGHT THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY. IN ADDITION...WINDS WILL INCREASE THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND CONTINUE TO BLOW INTO FRIDAY WITH GUSTS TO 30 MPH. GIVEN THE INCREASING SOLAR RADIATION AT THIS LATE STAGE IN THE WINTER...THE HIGHEST ACCUMULATIONS OF SNOW WILL BE AT NIGHT. 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED EACH NIGHT...BUT SOME MELTING CAN BE EXPECTED DURING THE DAYTIME.
