Marie Allen Smith, 90, of Ravenswood passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital’s Transitional Care Unit in Parkersburg.


Marie Allen Smith, 90, of Ravenswood passed away on Friday, January 22, 2010, in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital’s Transitional Care Unit in Parkersburg. 

She was born November 12, 1919, in Jackson County, the daughter of Maggie Thomas Allen and Frank Allen.

Marie was a homemaker, 1938 RHS graduate, member of the North United Methodist Church, 50-plus year member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6669 (former secretary-treasurer and current treasurer), and the Jackson County CB Club.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold E. in 2004, and a half-brother Ralph Hupp of Elizabeth in 1984.

Surviving are her children Sandy of Vienna, Harold Lee of Dublin, OH, and Patty of Columbus, OH; special daughter Rose (Gary) Lawson, Ravenswood; very special grandchildren Karyn (Jeff) Stephens, South Point, OH, and Kevin (April) Lawson, Hurricane; great-grandchildren (thus the name G.G.) Gage Edward, Macy Paige Marie, Jarrett Matthew Everett Paul, Presley Rose Stephens, and Hadley Marie Lawson, all of whom were her pride and joy.

Marie’s service was held at Roush Funeral Home, 205 Ritchie Avenue, Ravenswood, on Monday, January 25, at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Don Maxson officiating.  Burial  followed in the Ravenswood Cemetery.  Visitation was held on Sunday, January 24, from 5 to 8 p.m., and on Monday, January 25, from 1 to 2 p.m.
